Tips to dealing with emotional stress following a violent incident

On Saturday, Sept. 14, a tragic incident took place in our school community, which injured five individuals and resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male. Violent incidents such as this can affect students in a variety of ways. Supports have been made available at the school if your child needs to talk to someone. In addition, here are some tips from the National Association of School Psychologists ​that you may find helpful to talk with your child at home.

What you need to know about busing

​Eligibility for Transportation is based on distance criteria established by the Peel District School Board.  Under the Board's Policy, students residing within their school's attendance boundary and living in excess of the following distance criteria from their school are eligible for transportation:

Kindergarten to Grade 1:       1.0 km

Grades 2 to 4:                         1.6 km

Grades 5 to 8:                         2.0 km

Grades 9 to 12:                       3.8 km

​The Peel Learning Foundation's mission is to raise funds to enable Peel District School Board students to achieve personal excellence by providing resources that help them overcome barriers. We officially launched in February 2019, and to date, the foundation has supported more than 200 students.
