Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.

Mission

The Bristol Middle Road School community is a diverse and collaborative learning environment in which all stakeholders value high academic standards, while developing positive citizenship skills, global awareness and the pursuit to become independent learners. Staff, students and parents work together in academic and social experiences that facilitate student learning. Our students are provided with the skills they need to be successful in their chosen endeavours.

Vision

Our school will be a professional learning community where: - all members model the trait of continuously learning and leading - all aspects of school program and operation exemplify a collaborative team approach - priorities are set using the SMART goals process

Staff Commitments

  • treating students with respect and empathy, being sensitive to individual differences, cultural backgrounds and exceptionalities
  • continuously learning to improve pedagogical skills by using data to identify the greatest areas of need
  • working collaboratively with all members of the Bristol Road Middle School community
  • use data to measure our progress with respect to our school success goals

Student Commitments

  • behave in a manner which will not interfere with another student's learning and the teacher's right to teach
  • come to school regularly and punctually, prepares to learn and participate in a positive, constructive manner in all school activities
  • complete assignments and homework on time , commensurate with their abilities
  • exhibit courtesy and respect for other students, staff and school visitors
  • follow the school code of conduct, routines and classroom rules

Parent Commitments

  • support and respect the school code of conduct
  • send their children to school and promptly; rested, nourished and with encouragement to demonstrate appropriate academic and social behaviour
  • provide an appropriate place and time and support in the home for students to complete assigned tasks from school and/or academic study
  • to work in partnership with teachers to support their children's academic and social growth
