Bridge Building Challenge 2017

Bridge Building Challenge 2017

Dear Parents and Students.

The annual Bridge Building Challenge operated by the Mississauga Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2017. All teams that register will be provided with a kit of 200 popsicle sticks, white school glue, and a set of rules.

The challenge will be to research and create a design for a bridge and then build it from the supplied kit of popsicle sticks. On the day of the event, teams will bring their assembled bridge and give a short presentation about it in front of a panel of judges who are all Engineers. Their bridge will then be tested on a bridge buster and it will record the load that the bridge is supporting at the moment it breaks. However, the strength of the bridge is only one component in the total score since other aspects about the bridge including design technique, construction quality, creativity and even aesthetics will be evaluated by the judges. Prizes will be awarded.

Bridge kits must be obtained from Tomken Road Middle School, 3200 Tomken Road in Mississauga.

For registration and more information about the event please visit http://peo-mc.ca/home/?p=4336

See you all there!
