Participation component of applications for Peel board elementary Regional Learning Choices Programs cancelled

​The Peel District School Board has cancelled the participation component of applications for each of its elementary Regional Learning Choices Programs (RLCP) for the 2020-21 school year. There are no changes to the application timelines. Interested students and families are encouraged to visit www.peelschools.org/regionalprograms to learn about each of the six elementary regional programs and for details on the application process.

Important notice for families regarding Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Report Cards and Kindergarten Communication of Learning

​As you know, secondary and elementary teachers in Ontario are currently taking part in a legal job action. This means that they are able to withdraw services, up to and including a full withdrawal—strike. Current job action being taken by Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) will have an impact on Kindergarten Communication of Learning, Report Cards and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in school boards across the province.

Peel families invited to “Start with a Smile” and register for kindergarten

Peel District School Board elementary schools are currently accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2020-21 school year. ​Children born in 2016 can start school in September 2020. Families can register their child for kindergarten any time during school hours by completing the online registration forms in advance and visiting the school that their child will attend during school hours. Elementary teachers to begin phase 3 work-to-rule on Jan. 13 unless progress is made at provincial bargaining table

On Jan. 9, 2020, Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) announced that job action would escalate in public elementary schools across Ontario beginning Jan. 13, unless progress is made at the provincial bargaining table. Phase 3 of ETFO work-to-rule is set to begin next week.

​Dear BWF Families who attend Breakfast Club,

Effective immediately (Monday, January 13, 2020) and until further notice, Breakfast club will begin at 8:35am. There will be NO SUPERVISION until 8:35am. Please do not allow your child to wait outside unattended.

We apologize for the inconvenience but thank you for your support in this small change so that we can still keep Breakfast club open.

Apply for grade 1 French Immersion or grade 7 Extended French by Friday, Jan. 31, 2020

If your child will be starting grade 1 or grade ​7 in September 2020, one of the choices you will make is whether you want to consider grade 1 French Immersion (FI) or grade 7 Extended French. Applications are now open for grade 1 FI and grade 7 EF for the 2020-21 school year. Apply online at www.peelschools.org/French. The deadline to apply is Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.
