Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.


We believe that all children are capable of learning. Our mission is to foster respectful collaborative learners who are confident in their ability to be leaders, to take risks, to think critically, to communicate effectively, and to solve problems meaningfully. Everyone has the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential in our supportive diverse community of parents, staff, and students.


Floradale is a school where the world learns together. Diversity is our strength. We believe that ALL students can learn in an environment where staff care, differentiate instruction, assess as, for and of learning for students. Parents are our partners in education. We believe that dedicated teachers who develop professionally and collaborate know how to capitalise on student skill sets. The positive climate and high standards for achievement embedded in every interaction ensures the academic, social, physical and emotional support that each child and family needs.

Collective Commitments

Staff Commitments

  • Communicating effectively and proactively with parents to help them understand their children's learning and how they can support learning at home
  • Respecting, understanding and responding effectively to the diverse needs of our students
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure that the best instructional and assessment practices are used in the classroom to support student success
  • Participating in ongoing professional development and implementing new learning into classroom practice
  • Ensuring consistency in instructional and assessment practices across all grade levels

Student Commitments

  • Being responsible for taking all school notices and other forms of communication home to our families daily
  • Participating in all class and school activities in an attentive, responsible, respectul manner
  • Reading at home and sharing our reading with a family member regularly. Reading with RAZ-Kids on the Computer on a nighly basis to improve reading
  • Coming to school every day on time and trying not to be absent unless ill or experiencing a family emergency
  • Learning from our mistakes and asking teachers for assistance when needed. Being an Honest when we do something wrong and taking responsibility

Parent Commitments

  • Attending all school information sessions and opportunties to understand how to support our children and their learning at home
  • Communicating with the classroom teacher when there is a question or need for information regarding our children's progress or well-being
  • Reading and responding to all requests from the school or classroom teacher in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that our children attend school daily and are on time unless there is illness or a family emergency
  • Providing a time and quiet place at home for our children to read and to complete their homework
