Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.

Mission

The Riverside learning community partners work together to instill and affirm excellence. By inspiring and nurturing the talents, passions, and creativity in our students, we develop Assertive, Considerate and Trustworthy global citizens. Riverside Acts! Vision

At Riverside, we envision an inclusive community of learners striving towards integrity and excellence while promoting positive attitudes and relationships.

Collective Commitments

Staff Commitments

  • to positively implment the character education program through naming not blaming and shaming
  • to work together towards achieving school succes goals around vocabulary development, 3 part lesson design and assistive technology
  • to communicate on an ongoing basis shcool success initiatives through the school newsletter, website and school council mtgs.
  • to engage in meaningful and productive professional development sessions that ensure we all 'walk the talk'.

Student Commitments

  • to be present and arrive on time
  • to use the school agenda on a daily basis as an organizational and communication tool
  • to follow the school code of conduct and anti-bullying policy as outlined in student agendas to help create a safe and engaging learning environment
  • to ensure communication from the school is shared with family members at home
  • to learn and demonstrate the virtues
  • to either pursue or support student leadership in the school

Parent Commitments

  • to participate in school structures such as School Council, read newsletters, information sessions and celebrations
  • to support and build on student learning at home
  • to help ensure students get enough rest, have healthy meals, attend school on a regular basis arriving on time and prepared to learn
  • to support student learning through school council initiatives and discussions
  • to communicate with school staff on a regular basis
