Coyote Information

Coyote Information

Coyotes have recently been sighted in our school community. We will continue to monitor our school area regularly. We want to remind residents that coyotes are frequently found in urban areas and are extremely adaptive in their skills. At this time of year, they are searching for food.

  • Do not feed coyotes, either intentionally or by leaving food out for pets.
  • Do not approach or try to touch a coyote.
  • Take precautions with pets. Leave cats indoors and dogs on short leashes and close to you when walking them.
  • Avoid parks during dusk and dawn when coyotes tend to be roaming.
  • Please note that it is extremely rare for coyotes to attack people.

Further information on normal coyote behaviour and precautions to take can be found on the City of Mississauga's website at www.mississauga.ca. We also encourage you to review the attached resource provided by the City of Mississauga.  Coyote Information_City of Mississauga.pdf

As always, should you have any questions, please contact the school.
