Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.

Mission

At Homelands Senior Public School we are committed to constantly strive to provide exemplary learning opportunities for our students. We have very high expectations for our students and through differentiation of instruction and assessment we help them learn the skills and concepts, they will need to master a challenging curriculum. We inspire and empower the Homelands' School and Community to embrace the values of our Code of H.O.N.O.U.R. (Honesty, Open Communication, Necessary Learning Skills, Opportunities for Success, Unity, Respect) which reflect the learning skills and work habits necessary for success in the 21st Century.

Vision

At Homelands Sr PS, our vision of an exemplary school is a place where: High expectations are the norm & where supports, via differentiated instruction & assessment, are provided to ensure students meet the requirements of a challenging curriculum Students possess creative, critical thinking skills & apply those skills in a purposeful way Where risk taking is valued & encouraged Stakeholders feel welcome, in a clean, maintained site Everyone has an intrinsic motivation to be successful Stakeholders feel safe, valued & respected in a inclusive & culturally diverse school Students are prepared for high school & ultimately for success in the 21st Century work force Healthy living, through diet & exercise is natural part of the school Where everyone is socially conscious & strives to find innovative ways to be responsible in both their local & global world (social justice & the environment) Through character education no one tolerates bullying, intimidation, or discrimination.

  • Complete homework and assignments on time
  • Follow Homelands Code of HONOUR and classroom routines
  • Become involved in a variety of school activities and opportunities

Parent Commitments

  • Creating an encouraging, caring and positive environment at home for children to do homework; schedule daily homework time and routines
  • Continuing to keep lines of communication open with students, teachers and principal.
  • Remaining current with educational issues and trends.
  • Establishing goals, expectations, and shared responsibilities between school, parents and teachers as equal partners in school success
  • Supporting the school and staff through getting involved in the School Council, extra-curricular activities or volunteer programs
