Use of personal devices in Peel District School Board schools

Use of personal devices in Peel District School Board schools

On Nov. 4, 2019, the Ministry of Education introduced a restriction on the use of personal mobile devices, such as cellphones, in the classroom. It's being referred to as a "cellphone ban" in the media, however, the ministry's direction does allow personal devices to be used for instructional purposes, as directed by an educator. Exceptions are also made if cellphones are required for health or medical purposes, to support special education needs. This direction aligns with the Peel District School Board's current practice and, as such, there is no change to the use of technology in Peel schools.

Climate and Student Council ~ Socks 4 Souls Drive

EMMS please help us reach our goal of 300 pairs of socks for Socks 4 Souls. Socks 4 Souls is an organization which helps the homeless by providing clean new socks. Since many homeless people do not have access to laundry facilities, multiple pairs of socks are needed for each person. Socks 4 Souls is hoping to collect 100,000 pairs of new adult socks this year. 300 pairs of socks is only $150.00. You can help by donating your spare change, buying a candy cane-gram for a friend or bringing in a new pair of socks. We will be running our Sock Drive until December 18th.

Student Council ~ Candy Grams on sale

Please listen to announcements for where and when Candy Grams are on sale. During the week of December 13 to 19 the Student Council will be selling Candy Cane Candy Grams for $0.50. This is a great way to send a warm holiday greeting to a friend in order to wish them good will this season. The bonus is that all proceeds will go to support our Socks for Soul Campaign. Each Candy Gram purchased will purchase a new pair of socks in order to help the homeless. What better way gift two people at once!
