Letter to families about updated health & physical education curriculum

Letter to families about updated health & physical education curriculum

The Ministry of Education recently released its revised Health & Physical Education (HPE) curriculum, which all Ontario schools are required to implement beginning in September 2015. We want to ensure all Peel families have the information they need to help them understand the changes and learn how the curriculum will be taught in the classroom.

Parent resources help you support your child’s learning

In October 2014, the Peel District School Board sought input from families to help guide the development of resources that help parents and caregivers support their children's learning. The result is a new Help Your Child online resource centre on the Peel board's website with the topics families said were important to them.

DAY OF PINK

April 8 marks the international Day of Pink. It is a day where communities across the country, and around the world, unite to celebrate diversity and raise awareness to stop homophobia and all forms of bullying. The international Day of Pink was started in Canada, and the message is clear: anyone can bully, anyone can be victimized by bullying, but together we can stop it. We hope your child will join the millions of people wearing pink to remember that positive actions make a difference. Our students will be joining millions of others students showing support for this important cause by parading through the community.

OPEN HOUSE

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Our open house is the evening of April 23rd, from 6-7:30pm. Like last year, parents will receive a passport which will indicate all the activities that are taking place at the school. Once parents attend the station, their passport will be stamped. Activities that night will include a book fair, art and poems about diversity stationed outside each classroom, a French Café, BBQ. New for this year’s open house will be a health/diversity room where we will introduce parents to some of the content of the new health curriculum and provide information around mental health issues that affect students. There will also be band performances in the gym, a crazy photo booth, and an autism store which will have crafts and cards made by our ASD class students.
