How to become a volunteer

To volunteer at our school, you must complete a short interview and a criminal record check. A police background check is required for all school volunteers in Ontario. Even if you want to accompany your child on a field trip, you need this background check.

Once you have completed the process, you are on file with the Peel District School Board as being a school volunteer. You will only need to complete the process once, because the information can be transferred from school to school. You must volunteer at least once per school year to keep your record active.

If you live in Brampton or Mississauga
  1. Come visit us in the office if you're interested in volunteering at our school. We will conduct a short interview and provide you with the forms necessary to obtain your criminal record check.
  2. Fill out the form and deliver it in person to the Peel Police station indicated on the form. You will need to have two pieces of government-issued identification with you—one must be photo ID. Examples include driver's license, health card, passport, birth certificate or citizenship card.

  3. It may take several weeks for your criminal record check to be processed. Once completed, you will receive the criminal record check in the mail. You must deliver the original copy of the criminal record check to the Peel board office. We recommend delivering it in person. If this is not possible, submit it by mail or via our school.   5. Once your criminal record check is received and approved, you will be added to a database as a school volunteer and can begin volunteering. The criminal record check becomes the property of the Peel board.
If you live in Caledon
  1. Visit our school office and we will conduct a short interview and provide you with the forms necessary to obtain your criminal record check. You will need to show two pieces of government-issued identification, which will be photocopied and sent along with the completed forms to the Ontario Provincial Police.
  2. Once the OPP has completed the criminal record check, they will forward the information to the Peel board. When the criminal record check has been received and approved, you will be added to a database as a school volunteer. The criminal record check becomes the property of the Peel board.
