May 20, 2016 –@ James Bolton P.S.

The Peel District School Board has set various days in May for Toonie collection and James Bolton P.S. is calling Friday,  May 20th" Fort McMurray Friday".  This will help send urgent support to respond to the needs of children and families affected in Fort McMurray, Alberta and the surrounding area.

On Sunday, May 1, 2016, a devastating wildfire started spreading in Alberta, affecting the city of Fort McMurray. The fire has caused substantial structural damage and resulted in the province's largest wildfire evacuation. Families from more than 12 communities have been displaced from their homes, and more than 70,000 people need immediate assistance. Those affected by the wildfire require basic necessities and emergency supplies. Your donation will help provide them with food and emergency supplies.

A donation of:

  • $75 will provide hot meals for a week
  • $150 provides a family with groceries for five days
  • $200 can purchase two Infant Care Kits containing diapers, formula, bottles and clothes

We can make a difference in the lives of children and their families.

This is a completely voluntary campaign and any contributions are welcome. All donations will be matched in full by the Government of Canada.

On Friday  May 20th, you can choose to send a loonie, toonie or a cheque made out to your child's school. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt from The Canadian Red Cross. To receive a tax receipt, please attach a slip with your full name and address. The Canadian Red Cross will send a tax receipt to you directly.

You can also make a secure donation online at

Tax receipts for online donations are handled through The Canadian Red Cross website.

Thank you for lending a helping hand to those who need it most.

Peel board says, “Facts matter,” provides factual guide to revised HPE curriculum

The Peel District School Board has produced Working together to keep our students safe and healthy: a parent's guide to the revised Health and Physical Education curriculum. The guide provides factual information about the revised curriculum, the actions the board has taken in response, and a grade-by-grade chart of what students will learn. The guide will be distributed to every parent with students in grades 1 to 12.

Parent resources help you support your child’s learning

In October 2014, the Peel District School Board sought input from families to help guide the development of resources that help parents and caregivers support their children's learning. The result is a new Help Your Child online resource centre on the Peel board's website with the topics families said were important to them.
