How to become a volunteer

To volunteer at our school, you must complete a short interview and a criminal record check. A police background check is required for all school volunteers in Ontario. Even if you want to accompany your child on a field trip, you need this background check.

Once you have completed the process, you are on file with the Peel District School Board as being a school volunteer. You will only need to complete the process once, because the information can be transferred from school to school. You must volunteer at least once per school year to keep your record active.

To get the full process for becoming a volunteer, visit our volunteer page on www.peelschools.org.

         Climb With Us Volunteer Program

Dear Volunteer

Welcome to Mount Royal Public School.  On behalf of all the students and their teachers, I want to thank you for your interest in our Climb With Us volunteer program.  You are an important component in the success of our students.  Your presence in our school will provide us with valuable help in providing support to students in whatever way you choose to be involved.

A Climb With Us volunteer is a mother, father, grandparent, or any other interested adult or member of our school community who is willing to give his or her time and talent to help out at Mount Royal as a member of our team.  Your participation as a Climb With Us volunteer supports our instructional programs and school goals.  While no magic formula exists, the ideal Climb With Us volunteer demonstrates a love for children.  He/She is dependable, flexible, and dedicated to supporting the school in its efforts to educate each child to reach his or her highest potential.  As a volunteer, you will also reap benefits by experiencing:

  1. The joy and excitement of working with children in kindergarten to grade 8;
  2. The personal satisfaction of making a difference in children's lives;
  3. The personal growth that comes from being needed and the opportunity for updating skills;
  4. The positive relationships created with members of your community.

In this package you will find the information you need to become a Climb With Us volunteer.  There are suggestions on how you can be involved, an application form, as well as a volunteer authorization form which you will need to obtain your criminal records check.  Once you have completed your application, you will meet with our administrative team to discuss your interests and possible placement.

Thank you for taking the first step in becoming a Climb With Us volunteer!
