Shaw Public School
May has arrived and across Ontario the annual round of provincial assessments for grade 3 students begins. These reading, writing and mathematics assessments, designed by the Education Quality and Accountability Office, measure a
child's ability to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to make decisions, not merely recall factual material. Our
Grade 3 students begin their assessments on Tuesday, May 28th and will be working on them for the balance of that
week.
The assessments will be marked over the summer months and the results will be made known to the school, when we
return in the fall. We shall use the results of these assessments to modify and improve our delivery of program and to set instructional goals for the coming year. In the meantime, we would ask that our Grade 3 parents do their best to ensure that their children are at school every day, on time and well-rested, during the assessment period.
