Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.

Mission

Through a balanced and safe environment, our diverse community school will support innovation and continuous learning inspiring and empowering students to be successful citizens.

Vision

Our vision is that all members of the school community; staff, parents and the general community, all work together to support our students as they reach for the stars.

Collective Commitments

Staff Commitments

  • - activities that will maintain a positive climate in our school e,g, the pink shirt campaign, 2nd Step, spirit days , tracking behaviour
  • - supporting student well-being and leadership and providing related opportunities, e.g. Student Parliament, PALS, extra-curricular
  • - activities that promote balance and wellness in our personal and professional lives
  • - doing what is necessary to challenge all students and meet their individual needs, e.g. making accommodations and advocating for students
  • - collaboration and teamwork e.g., caring for each other, respecting, supporting, mentoring, sharing of the expertise on staff

Student Commitments

  • -supporting the balanced calendar because we enjoy having our breaks spread out across the year. We are able to attend Camp I Can and Camp Bondar
  • -supporting all clubs. Ther are always things to do at E-Breaks. These clubs include Forest of Reading, Choir, Band, Card Club, PALS and more
  • -supporting the wide range of school teams. Teams include basketball, soccer, volleyball, ball hockey, cricket, cross country and track and field
  • -helping to protect the environment. Two student groups, Passionate Earthlings and Walking Schoolbus Leaders run eco-projects. We have won gold
  • -having many leadership opportunities that make our self confidence greater: Student Parliament, PALS, Zero Heroes, LEAP, Ambassadors, Assemblies

Parent Commitments

  • -ensuring open lines of communication between staff, parents and children, for example checking the student agenda, acting on interviews, Synrevoice
  • -supporting academic achievment i.e., providing a positive environment for homework and making sure that my child is on time and prepared for class
  • -supporting and spreading the concept of the Balanced Calendar
  • -respecting, understanding and promoting multiculturalism by learning and celebrating all faiths traditions
