Gymnasiums, classrooms, theatres and cafeterias in board schools are available to rent by non-profit, community and corporate groups for a variety of functions. Current users of Peel board schools include youth and adult sports teams, boys and girls clubs, cultural groups and support groups.
"Our schools are hubs of the community where people can gather to learn and stay active," says outreach program co-ordinator Elaine McLean. "We encourage individuals and groups to think of our facilities when they plan an event or have an idea for a function but don't know where to hold it."
Facilities are available during the school year on weekdays from 6 to 10 p.m. and on weekends.
Fees vary depending on the day of usage, the facility requested and type of activity. The Facilities Rentals department receives funding from the Ministry of Education to offset the actual costs of renting these spaces.
