Therapy Dog Visiting Plum Tree

Therapy Dog Visiting Plum Tree

Dear Plum Tree Families,

St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Division in Mississauga is delighted to be coming to Plum Tree Park in a partnership between the school and our Community Service Unit.

It will be our pleasure to introduce Fran Archambault and her dog, Jinx.  They will begin visiting Plum Tree Park Public School next Wednesday, December 7th at 1:00 p.m. in one of our Resource Rooms to meet with a small group of students.

Fran Archambault and her dog, Jinx have taken part in our Therapy Dog Child Test Evaluation and have passed all the necessary testing to visit children.  This experience will give the children the enjoyment of getting to know Jinx and learning more about our program, our beautiful canines and what we do to help those in the community through our visits.

St. John Ambulance is the oldest charity in the world and makes every effort to ensure the safety and well being of our clients and volunteers.  We are pleased that Jinx has met our rigorous standards.  Great care is taken in the selection of dogs for our programs involving children.  They are tested for temperament and therapeutic qualities.  Please enjoy the fun, friendship, therapeutic benefits and unconditional love that will come to you when Fran Archambault and Jinx visit.

SuperWalker Program

As the first half of our Superwalker Program ends, we are proud to have seen so many students involved! The morning walking stamps will continue year-long.  Our lunch walking program will be on its usual winter hiatus, due to weather conditions, but will start up again in the spring.  The last lunchtime Walking Club will be Wednesday, December 7th. Remember, if your child completes five full cards, they will get their picture on the Superwalker Wall and will be invited to the year-end party in June!
Skip Team Try-outs
In Mid-December, all Grade 5 and 6 students will be invited to try out for our school Skip Team. The team will create a choreographed routine, that they will eventually present to our school and other schools in the community in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Jump Rope for Heart program. Plum Tree is known for its phenomenal support of this program, and are now also known for our fabulous skippers!
Grade 5 and 6 Basketball Try-outs
In the New Year, students in both Grade 5 and Grade 6 will be invited to try-out for their grade-level's basketball team.  Both teams will be co-ed.  Tournaments will take place in March.  We look forward to another exciting basketball season!
Get ready to dip, duck, dive, and duck!  Dodgeball intramurals will be starting in January! Stay tuned for more details!
