Important information from Region of Peel for families of grade 7 students

Important information from Region of Peel for families of grade 7 students

On August 17th, 2017, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care announced that HPV9 vaccine will replace the HPV4 vaccine for grade 7 students. The HPV4 vaccine provides protection against four strains of HPV while the HPV9 vaccine will provide protection against these four strains and an additional five strains of HPV.

HPV4 vaccine will no longer be offered and the Region of Peel requires your consent to immunize your child for HPV9. Please note, this information only applies to grade 7 students. Please complete the following consent form from Region of Peel,Region of Peel HPV-9 Letter, and provide it to school.

Completed consents will be given to Peel Public Health Nurses who will give the vaccines at clinics held in our school this school year.

View the Fact Sheet HPV-9 for more details on the HPV disease and HPV9 vaccine.

For more information, visit or talk to a Peel Public Health Nurse at 905-799-7700. Caledon residents can call toll free at (905) 584-2216.

Note: If you have already spoken to a Peel Public Health Nurse and provided verbal consent for HPV9, please disregard this notice.

Get involved in your child’s education

Get involved in your child’s education

Research shows parent involvement positively affects student success. Becoming more involved brings many benefits. You will get to know teachers, the principal and other parents better. You will be able to share your talents, experiences and ideas. You will inspire youth—and be inspired by them. You will show your child how much you value education. You will gain insights that can help you to boost your child's learning. And you could develop skills and knowledge that can help you in your own career.

There are many ways to be involved. Attending the Peel District School Board's annual parent conference, volunteering at your child's school, talking to your teen about their school day and reading with your child at night are all forms of parent involvement. Visit to learn more.
