April 4th Walkout Update

April 4th Walkout Update

Good afternoon,

I'm writing to let you know that most of our students participated in a walkout yesterday. This was not a school-sponsored event.

Students walked out of school from approximately 1:15 pm until 2:00 pm to join elementary and secondary students across the province who are protesting the provincial government's recent changes to education. Students remained on school property throughout. Our event was organized entirely by a Grade 8 student leadership team.

We respect and support the right of students to advocate for causes that are important to them. You may contact me at anytime if you have any questions.

Student Walkout this week

Student Walkout this week

Hello Everyone,

We've been made aware that a group of students have planned a walkout to protest the provincial government's recent changes to education. These walkouts are not school-sponsored.

Civic engagement is important. We respect and support the right of students to advocate for causes that are important to them.

The walk-out is planned for 1:15 until 2:00 pm on Thursday afternoon. The walk-out will be on school property and supervised by teachers to ensure student safety.

We are always mindful of our student's safety and that of others at all times. Police have been made aware as a safety precaution.

An alternative activity area will be available for those students not participating in the event.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Mr. B.

All students in Ontario secondary schools are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement in order to obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students are encouraged to start accumulating community involvement hours in the summer after grade 8.

Promoting Wellbeing in Your Children This Summer: The Importance of Structure

Promoting Wellbeing in Your Children This Summer: The Importance of Structure

Summer vacation is almost here! Children can barely wait to put away their backpacks and spend their days free. Although this might be true for many, children and parents rely on structure to help guide the day, even in the summer. Structure holds kids and allows them to feel safe, knowing what to expect throughout the day and the week. Although it is crucial for children to have unstructured, free time each day, it is important for there to be some routine and structure (however you define it) to help children manage their emotions. Parents and children should sit down and discuss the summer plans, whether it is camp every day or multiple weeks off in a row, kids need to know what to expect.
