This Friday June 15 is the final day to drop off nonperishable food items for the MSA Food Drive. All items will be sent to the Mississauga Food Bank to help the 15% of Mississauga residents that are living in poverty. Italy 2019
This is an important reminder to all students interested in attending the Italy 2019 Social Science and Visual Arts trip. The parent information meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the library.  The agenda will cover the details of the trip as well as how to qualify and register for the trip.  If you have not yet picked up an information package and are interested, please see Mr. Wun in the social science office ASAP.

Dragon boat victory!
A big congratulations goes out to the Cawthra Dragon Boat Team who swept the High school Cup this weekend at the Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival. Our girls crew, the Double Xs, took gold in the women's A division, beating out competitive and community teams by a dragon's whisker in a photo finish! The four crews - the Misfitz, the Phailin' Grades, PB&J, and the DoubleXs - represented our school in style, finishing in the top 20 of 46 teams in the festival. Thanks for an outstanding and fabulously fun season, Panthers!

Hey Cawthra! The Ontario election is in its final days, and we want you to take part! Cawthra's Leadership Club is hosting our very own Student Vote. Student Vote is a parallel election for students under the voting age, coinciding with official election periods. Today, you can cast a ballot for your preferred candidate during lunch in the cafeteria and practice the skill of voting. We'll announce the results of the voting on Friday morning. Let’s finish this year off with a bang! Student Council is hosting our Sumer Carnival, a day of sunshine and laughter. Ultimate Frisbee Team
Yesterday, the Ultimate frisbee team's season came to a close. They played and beat Chinguacousy in a tightly contested match but could not pull off a second victory against Humberview to advance to the OFSAA South Regi​onal tournament. Overall, they finished 6th in Peel this year. Congratulations on a great season!

Ultimate Frisbee Team makes playoffs
Yesterday the ultimate Frisbee team finished its regular season with a 14-4 win against Gordon Graydon. This puts Cawthra in 3rd place in our division. The team will be travelling to Castlebrooke on Tuesday for the playoffs. Way to go Panthers!

Please congratulate our Cawthra Park Girls Fastpitch team! Despite several injuries and two very long double-header days, our team clinched 3 solid wins in their five game regular season. They will likely be advancing to the semis in two weeks and, with time to recover from injuries, plan to show their rivals what they can really do. Go Panthers.

Our doubles teams of Aron Chen & Sean Tran and Ethan Maeda & Carlos Carandang stepped up their game play to win all 12 games, while Josh Zakaib and Mitchell Gedney added another 5 for the win. Cawthra Park's Girls Fastpitch team took mercy on Lorne Park with a 15-0 win at the end of the 3rd inning!
The season opener for Cawthra Park's Girls Fastpitch team was extremely impressive with a 15 to 0 win over Lorne Park in only three innings. Both batting and fielding were solid from the start and the team spirit was infectious. Congratulations to the team!

Ultimate Fribee Tournament
Thank you to those who supported and participated in our 3rd annual ultimate frisbee tournament. There were 16 teams that played last Friday and Cawthra came in with a strong second place finish (despite unusually high winds)! A big thank you goes out to members of Athletic Council for organizing and running this event.

Ultimate Fribee Tournament
Thank you to those who supported and participated in our 3rd annual ultimate frisbee tournament. There were 16 teams that played last Friday and Cawthra came in with a strong second place finish (despite unusually high winds)! A big thank you goes out to members of Athletic Council for organizing and running this event.

Boy's Soccer Game Report
Congratulations to the Boy's Soccer Team for their first win of the season yesterday over Gordon Graydon. Final score was 4 to 1 with goals from Jacob Zakaib, Isaiah Headley and two from DeAndre Asare. It was a full team effort and Mr. G and Ms. Zakis are proud of the boy's for their effort. Hi Cawthra! Hamlet, our Spring Play, is fast approaching and it's time to get your tickets. In this modernized production, audiences will be entertained with multiple sword fights, a dynamic set and inventive staging that includes projections and music. You do not want to miss this play. So, "To Be or Not to Be?!" Tickets are $20 each and available NOW on School Cash Online. The Box Office is now open across from the Student Counter at every lunch until April 27. You must come by the Box Office with proof of your purchase to select your seats. Performances run Thursday, April 26, Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 PM.
Face Painting Volunteers Needed!!
The Peel Regional Police is seeking volunteers to assist with their annual Police Day community festival on Saturday June 9th.  If you are a talented visual artist and love to give back to the community come to the main office to sign up.  Volunteer hours, and letter of reference will awarded to students Lunch will also be provided.  See Mr. Lowe for details.

Under the Spotlight is fast approaching! This is an amazing opportunity to showcase your talents and skills in our annual talent show. Please join Student Council for an audition from May 14 to May 18. There will be the opportunity for both in school and after school auditions. Signup is in the CawthraSC instagram. The show night will be June 6th starting at 6:30 pm!”

Hey Cawthra, To recognize the first responders and the victims of Toronto's van attack, we are asking all staff and students to wear blue on Monday. Please come by the caf to sign a poster with tho​ughts of positivity so we can spread positivity even in times of hardship.

 
Project Mental Health - Dance
Hey Cawthra! Do you want to be a part of Project Mental Health? We are looking for performers, dancers, spoken word pieces and/or concept art that relates to mental health.  If you are interested please sigh up your name or group name on the bulletin board outside the Dance Office starting today.  Those who sign up will be invited to show us what you got on May 3rd after school.  8 pieces will be selected to be a part of the assembly presentation on May 15th in front of the whole school. 
Also if you are interested in being in the assembly finale, come out and audition this Friday April 20th.  Bring dance clothes and an open heart.

“Hey HACKERS! PEELS first ever Hackathon is being hosted on May 18th by PCHACKERS at Applewood School beside Stephen Lewis Secondary School! There will be LOTS OF PRIZES and special guest speakers! Apply now at pchacks.ca and visit our Instagram to be a part of the peel hacking community.”

Interested in joining student council next year?? If you want to be an executive we will be offering applications the week of April 23-May 4. The applications can be found on the Student Council Facebook Page and the Instagram Bio. All due on May 4. If you intend on becoming or staying a general member stay tuned for next year!

 
Caps for Cancer
This is the second year Student Council is selling Cawthra Caps!! They will be sold on School Cash Online this Monday for $15. All the proceeds are being donated towards the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation. There are limited caps so make sure you buy yours soon!!

Dragon Boat
A reminder to all those interested in joining the dragon boat team.  You must complete the swim test next Thursday morning in the Cawthra pool.  Please see Ms. Fitzpatrick's website for details.  Deadline for registration I May 1st.
