SEP 22.2017

Grade 12 Scholarship Workshops
Attention all grade 12 students - the guidance department will be hosting two Lunch and Learn sessions next Tuesday, September 26th and Thursday, September 28th to discuss post-secondary scholarships. If interested, please come to the Career Centre on either of these dates. Sessions will run from 11:30am until 12:15.

Yearbook Application Deadline EXTENDED
Attention all yearbook applicants!  The deadline for applications has been extended to Monday, September 25.  You can still pick up applications and drop off in the special box at the student counter.

LEAP Announcement
Hey Cawthra Park! LEAP is our school's social justice team. Leaders Empowering All People will meet every Thursday in room 212 during lunch. If you are  interested in developing your leadership skills and want to help support the global community. Our LEAP team is the place where you have to be every Thursday.

Student Awards
Names of students who will be receiving awards at the assembly on October 5th are posted on the wall across from the student counter. If you have not received an invitation from your home form teacher, and you believe that you are receiving an award, please see Ms. Kubelikova or Ms. Bosiljevac as soon as possible.

Photo Re-take Day September 26th
hot Re-take day is on September 26th in Gym C.  Staff and Students who were absent or new to Cawthra since our Photo day on September 7th will be asked to go down to Gym C at some point during the day to have their picture taken.

The sign-up sheet is outside of the boys Phys Ed office. Tuesdays will be  for Juniors and Thursdays will be for Seniors. Questions? See Mr. Palias in Boys Phys. Ed.

Terry Fox Run is Tomorrow!
At age 18, Terry was a student. At 19, he was a cancer patient. At 21, he was a hero. Every year we honour one of Canada’s greatest heroes with over 4,200 Ontario schools taking part in the Terry Fox School Run and raising money for cancer research. Let’s all work together and make this year the best fundraising year ever!

For millions of people worldwide Terry Fox is the face of cancer research. His Marathon of Hope inspired a country and The Terry Fox Run, now in its fourth decade, continues to motivate people here in Canada and around the world. To date, over $750 million has been raised in Terry’s name. The Terry Fox Foundation continues to be a leading national investor in cancer research, directing $22.9 million to its cancer research programs in 2016/17. This year, our school run will be held this Friday. Don’t forget to bring in your donations to your teachers or donate through cashless schools. Dress for the weather and bring a reusuable water bottle as there will be a water station during our run.

Come on out to hear an Olympian share her story and what the PSPC has in store for this year! Creative Illustration Club
Do you like cartoons and illustration? Have you ever thought about doing concept design or applying for animation in post-secondary? Creative Illustration Club meets every Wednesday after school starting tomorrow, September 20th, in Room 105A. Get help with your animation or design portfolio today! Beginners are more than welcome, as we will provide step by step tips on how to improve your skills!

Nerd Club
The first rule of Nerd Club is: Do not talk about Nerd Club. The second rule of Nerd Club is: Do NOT talk about Nerd Club! Oh, to heck with the rules! Nerd Club will be meeting every Wednesday after school in the Tech Wing, starting September 20. Join us for retro gaming, live-action role-plays, strange movies and something called "fun". Guitar Ensemble
Guitar Ensemble will have a short meeting immediately after school in room 110 today. No guitars needed today. This will be a short meeting (10-20 minutes) just so that I can see how many players we have this year, pick some music, and talk about the best day/time for rehearsal (I'm thinking that Thursday's at lunch might be better than after school).
