REGIONAL STRINGS SELECTION PROCESS

Students living north of Highway 401 now have the opportunity to begin or continue their studies in String Instruments.  These instruments include the Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass.  Only students entering Grade 9 will be accepted during the first year of the program.

All students seeking admission to the program must have an interview (Beginning Strings), or an audition and interview (Intermediate Strings and Advanced Strings). This process ensures that students are placed at the appropriate level for their current abilities. Although a student’s program choice will be taken into consideration, the admissions committee will place each student in the appropriate stream based on their audition and prior experience.

Selection will be based on the application which includes:

·        Program stream selection

·        Parent and Student Input

  And

The following information gathered from the Board SIS data base:

·        Grade 7 Final Report Card

·        Grade 8, Term 1 Progress Report

·        Copy of IEP (Individual Education Pan) if applicable

  And

The Interview/Audition.

A $40.00 online non refundable application fee is due to the school.
