Art helps students develop self-confidence, take risks, encourage others and learn to appreciate what makes them unique. Each student is encouraged to be proud of their endeavours.
The art room opens its doors at 7:15 a.m. and remains open until 3:00 p.m. The lunch hour allows students to work on their creative projects while enjoying the company of non-art student friends. Students must remain positive and supportive to all who have art on display in progress or who join us in the room. Batik and Photography Club also run out of the art room during the lunch period.

Visual Arts
The art room is alive with oil painting and clay. The grade 9 students have challenged themselves with an Escher-inspired maze and are moving onto clay creatures with or without a function. They are motivated to create after learning about Jim Henson and the muppets! The grade 10 students are finishing their inspired oil landscapes. The paintings are beautiful and the students leave the art room feeling like they have been on a retreat!
Photography
All students are encouraged to enter the Capture Clarkson Photography competition. The front display case in the school has images from last year’s competitors. The photographs are displayed at the Clarkson Community Centre during Youth Arts Week. Be sure to visit and vote for your community choice winner. If you need help entering, drop by the art room at lunch to get my help.
