crossed-field-hockey-sticks-md.pngCongratulations to the girls field hockey team on winning their first game of the season 6-0 against Loyola.  Emma Young scored a hat trick--yes, 3 goals!!!  Rookie, Emily Wassmansdorf scored her first goal with only minutes to play.  Miranda Hunter and Chelsie Wiseman scored a goal each. Outstanding play making by Margaret Pham and Brianne Laverty.  The team is off to tournaments over the next 2 days.

Friday, Sept. 26th - Saturday, Sept. 27th

Congratulations to the Clarkson Field hockey team who placed 6 out of 16 teams this past weekend at the AKPRO tournament where the top teams in the province were competing.  Goals scored by E. Young, L. Weaver, B. Laverty, K. Green, K. Bingham, M. Hunter, and M.Pham.  Outstanding saves by K.Younan.  The team lost in the quarter finals in penalty shots.

Monday, Sept. 29th

The team won their game on Mon. Sept 29th against Applewood by a score of 3-0.  Emma Young hit a ball out of the air to score the first goal!  The second goal was a shot by our rookie, E. Wassmansdorf, and this is her second goal of the season.  The third goal was by M. Pham who layed out a blazing hard shot from the top of the circle!

Outstanding defense goes to B. Laverty, K. Ekels and our rookie, Y. Bang.  The

team is 2 and 0 for the seasons with 9 goals for and 0 against.  Next game is Wed. Oct 1st.

Tues., Oct. 21st

Congratulations to the girls' field hockey team who had a phenomenal game winning the ROPSSAA semi-finals 6-0 against Humberview.  Our amazing goalie, Kyra Younan, made outstanding saves.  Our first goal was by L.Weaver off of a hit by M.Pham.

B. Khuel scored a perfect goal from the corner off a perfect pass by E. Young.  M. Pham dangled through the Humberview defense to put another goal in.  E. Young drove one to the net as she was diving to get the shot off.  B.Laverty had an outstanding game.  Scoring a career high of two goals; one wrist-shot in the corner and the other up into the corner.

Our captain, Kaitlyn Green, held our .50 yard line with rock solid defence.  Off to ROPSSAA Tier 1 finals tomorrow.

Sat. Nov 8th

Congratulations to the Girls' Field Hockey team who competed at OFSAA with class, grit and never-ending determination.  They tied their first game in pool play with incredible saves from our goalie K.Younan.  Our one gol was scored by our grade 9 rookie, E.Wassmansdorf.

The second game was the most memorable.  The team was down 2-0 at the half.  Then, in the first 5 minutes of the second half, M. Pham worked her magic down the field setting up E. Young for a goal.  Only a few minutes later, these two players repeated this and it was a 2-2 game.  Ten minutes later, M. Pham again wend end to end sending E. Young a pass and her shot lead to her hat trick and gave us the lead.  Unfortunately, with 30 seconds left, the other team put one in our net.  Our second tie of the tournament.

Friday morning, Clarkson played the number one seed team, the team who eventually went on to win the gold medal.  Your Chargers battled hard and, even though they lost 6-1, they challenged this incredibly skilled opponent.  This team only had 2 goals scored against them all tournament and Clarkson Charger, B. Laverty, put one of those in their net.  We had scored against the best team in the province.  There are many graduating players on this team.  Please congratulate them as they have spent the past 4 years training, developing skills and setting the tempo for this two-time ROPSSAA Champion and two-time OFSSA competing team!!!

From your coach, thank you for inspiring, for always looking to find ways to improve and make us a better team.  It truly was an honour and privilege to coach such outstanding athletes!!!

The team would like to thank all of the administrative team, teachers and staff who have supported us financially, academically and with your words of praise and encouragement this year.

Varsity Boys Football

Friday, Sept 26th

football.svgCongratulations to the Varsity Boys Football Team, who had an incredible performance in the first fame of the season yesterday!  The boys dominated the Woodlands from the opening kickoff, on route to a 55-0 thrashing.  There were plenty of touchdowns to go around as Greenwood and Deelstra each scored once, Chambers and Juteau-Peall had to touchdowns each and...wait for it...Mundle had a 70 yard pickoff return for a touchdown.  The play of the game goes to Devonte Grant who intercepted the ball in our own end zone and ran it 100 yards for the touchdown! Unbelievable! Special mention to the offensive line for their strong play and the entire defense for posting a shutout!  The boys played a complete game and sent a message to the rest of Peel that we are BACK!
