Date of OSSLT: Thursday, October 20th, 2016

This year, eligible Grade 10 students will be participating in an online Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) pilot across the province of Ontario on October 20th, 2016. All eligible Grade 10 students at David Suzuki Secondary School will be participating on this day.


There will be two sessions for the OSSLT: Group 1 (9:00am-11:55am) and Group 2 (12:00pm-2:55pm). Students writing in Group 1 should arrive to the school no later than 8:45am; students writing in Group 2 should arrive to the school no later than 11:45am. All regularly scheduled classes are cancelled for the day and students not writing the OSSLT should be studying at home.


Some English Language Learners and students with Special Education Designations who qualify for extra time or special accommodations will receive them accordingly. All English Language Learners and students with Special Education Designations at David Suzuki will begin the test at 9:00am and should arrive to the school no later than 8:45am. 


All previously eligible students will be attempting the OSSLT in March 2017; only first-time eligible grade 10 students will be attempting on October 20th, 2016.

Parents and students can visit the EQAO website to find additional information on this online pilot format and to view sample tests for the online OSSLT. In addition, students will be able to watch information videos and review the tools that are available on this online version.
