At our school we have many positive achievements to celebrate. Visit this page to learn what great things our students are up to.

Wen Zhen Wang - Waterloo Math Contest (top 25% in Canada - April 2016)
Congratulations to Wen Zhen Wang who achieved the top score in Grade 9 at Erindale and ranked in the top 25% in Canada in the Waterloo Math Contest. Way to go Wen Zhen Wang!

Kirti Saxena - National Wrestling Championships (April 2016)


Erindale Secondary School's very own, Kirti Saxena, competed in the 2017 Cadet and Juvenile Canadian Wrestling Championships, which were held in Windsor, Ontario where she represented her wrestling club, Akhara of Champions (Mississauga). She competed in the FILA Cadet trials and placed first, allowing her to represent Canada at the International level for a second year. She will be participating in the Cadet Pan-American Wrestling Championships (Buenos Aires, Argentina), at the Canada Summer Games (Winnipeg, Maintoba) and at the Cadet World Wrestling Championships (Athens, Greece) to improve her current placement of Fifth in the World. Congratulations Kirti!


Masi Sahid - 52kg National Boxing Championships (Quebec, March 2016)
Congratulations to Masi Sahid as he placed 3rd at the National Boxing Championships in Quebec in March in the 52 kg weight class. Masi defeated the national champion in the first round! Way to go Mahsi!
Ryan Nicholson - National Snowboard Championships (March 2016)
Congratulations to Ryan as he placed 3rd at the provincial championships at Beaver Valley. He will be representing Ontario at the national championships later in March. Ryan's participation in the Nationals has resulted in a 36th ranking in the world!
Jaslan Stirling - named to the Canadian National Junior Field Hockey Team (Nov. 2015)
Congratulations to Jaslan Stirling as she will be joining the Canadian National Junior Field Hockey Team and representing Canada in Chile in January 2016. Way to go Jaslan!
Khadijat Animashaun - recipient of the 2015 United Achiever's Scholarship Award (Sep 2015)
Congratulations to Khadijat Animashaun, recipient of the 2015 United Achiever's Scholarship Award. While at Erindale, Khadijat was actively involved in school life as Math Senior Scholar, Link Crew Leader and she participated on several sports teams. In the community, she volunteered with the Erin Mills Youth Centre and the Girls Club (a program which focuses on the empowerment and development of young girls). Khadijat also received the prestigious 'Leader of Tomorrow Award' for her outstanding dedication to the community. Way to go Khadijat!
Maddie Stark - promoted to rank of Corporal (youngest person in Canada) (June 2015)
Maddie was recently promoted to Corporal by the Streetsville Pipes and Drums in addition to Corporal by the Queens York Rangers 1st American Regiment. The Queens York Rangers are a reserve regiment of the Canadian Military. Maddie worked very hard and was selected to  play for HRH The Duke of York, Prince Andrew as well as at Hazel McCallion's farewell gala. Maddie is the youngest person in Canada to be awarded the rank of Corporal. Way to go Maddie!
Mathematics Contests - Karim Khafagy, Hassan Zaidi and Moisha Rivarola  (April 2015)
Congratulations to Karim Khafagy who will receive a medal for earning the top score in the school. He will also receive an award of distinction for placing in the top 25% in Canada on the Fermat Contest.
Congratulations to Hassan Zaidi who will receive a medal for earning the top score in the school on the Cayley Math contest.
Congratulations to Moisha Rivarola who will receive a medal for earning the top score in the school on the Pascal Math contest.

National Hosa Canada Leadership Conference - Toronto Hilton (March 2015)


Congratulations to Lily Dettweiler who placed 3rd in the medical spelling event. Lily has the opportunity to compete at the International Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California (USA). Way to go Lily!


Canadian National Cross Country Championships (November 2014)


Congratulations to Braydon Rennie who competed at the Canadian National Cross Country Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia. Braydon placed 13th overall, racing up an age category against university athletes.


Skate Canada - Max Denk (December 2014)


Congratulations to Max Denk, who has been selected as a member of Team Central Ontario. Max will be competing at the 2015 Skate Canada National Challenge in Pierrefonds, Quebec in early December. Way to go Max!


Rugby - Andrew Wilson (November 2014)


Congratulations to Erindale's Andrew Wilson on his selection to the Canada East Rugby team. Andrew will be travelling to Victoria, B.C. in February for national competition. Way to go Andrew! 


Visual Artists on Display at the PAMA Art Gallery, Brampton (May 2014)


Congratulations to *Shireen Daneshvar-Jahromi, *Eric Nguyen and *Erin Laughton who have their sculptures on display at the PAMA Art gallery in Brampton as part of 'Walk the Art'. Ms. Currie and the rest of the school are proud of you!


Wrestling - Jamal Beydoun, Abdullah Mumtaz and Anderson Do (Feb. 2014)


Congratulations to Jamal, Abdullah and Anderson on their success at the ROPSSAA Wrestling Championships earning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals (respectively). Good luck at the provincial championships!


OFSSAA Provincial Championships (March 2014) - Anderson Do earned a 4th place medal (first wrestling medal for Erindale in 20 years). Abdullah placed in the top 10. Jamal restricted by an injury in the quarter-finals (unable to advance).


Erindale Musicians Tops at the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival (Feb. 2014)


Congratulations to your Junior and Senior band members as they recently earned Silver and Gold Medals (respectively) at the prestigious Golden Horseshoe Music Festival. Our Senior Band has earned an invitation to attend the National Championships and also received feedback that they were one of the best performances the scoring panel had heard in the last few years. Thank you to Ms. Jack, our musicians and all of our parents and community members who support our successful music program.


Marian Drysdale Awards (Artwork) - Renee Simpson (Jan. 2014)
We would like to congratulate Renee on the honorable mention she received from her original artwork called 'From Barren to Boundless'. The mixed media painting was inspired by the Tommy Douglas quotation "You can't lock up a good idea". Renee's artwork was selected from hundreds of submissions to win one of six Marian Drysdale Awards. Renee's work will be celebrated on February 5th at the Educator's Centre. Great work Renee!

Track & Field - Braydon Rennie (Nov. 2013)


Braydon had an outstanding year in Track and Field.  He earned Silver medals in the Midget Boys 1500 meter and 3000 meter events.  Braydon is a 6 time ROPSSAA champion and record holder in the 1500 meter event.  In 2012 he earned the bronze medal at the OFSSAA provincial meet for the 6 km junior boys.  All of these incredible accomplishments led to him being invited to represent Canada at the World Youth Track and Field championship.  Unfortunately he is currently injured and unable to compete in Cross Country.  However, he shows great determination and perseverance and plans to compete in the spring.  His goals include representing Canada in World Championships and perhaps the Olympics and to obtain a scholarship for track and field to a University.  Congratulations Braydon!


Swimming - Mitchell Muizelaar (Nov. 2013)


In addition to demonstrating excellence in academics, Mitchell also has achieved outstanding results in his swimming career. Mitchell placed 1st in the province for 16 year old boys last year in the 1500 meter freestyle.  Prior to turning 16 last year, in the 15 year old boys category, he placed 2nd in the province for the 800 meter freestyle and 1st in the province for the 400 meter freestyle.  His national achievements include placing 7th for 16 year old boys in the 1500 meter freestyle and 9th in the nation for 16 year old boys in the 800 meter freestyle.


Mitchell trains nine times a week for a total of 23 hours per week. This includes practices before and after school.   Mitchell’s goal for the future is to obtain a scholarship to the U.S. for swimming and swim his way through university.  Congratulations Mitchell on your outstanding achievement in Swimming.


Soccer - Oshay Lawes (Nov. 2013)


Oshay plays for the Under 20 Jamaican National Soccer team.  Last year while she was playing on the Under 17 team, she had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and compete in the Concacaf tournament where her team took on Guatemala, Cuba and Canada.  This year, Oshay travelled to Jamaica to play in the CFU tournament and her team qualified for Concacaf by placing first in the tournament.  Next stop is the Cayman Islands for Concacaf where her team will hopefully qualify for the FIFA world cup in Canada in 2014.  Oshay plays for the Waterloo Soccer Club and is hopeful that she will obtain a scholarship to the U.S. for Soccer next year.  Congratulations Oshay on your outstanding achievement with Soccer!


Senior Band Musicfest Nationals - Naiyelli Aguero Romero & Jessica Harrington (Nov. 2013)


Every year, students in our Music program compete in various festivals often receiving many accolades and awards and last year was no exception.  In May, the Senior Band went to Musicfest Nationals held at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto and won a Silver Plus standing.   Congratulations to the Senior Band on this achievement.  Accepting this award on behalf of the Senior Band are Naiyelli Aguero Romero and Jessica Harrington.  Best of luck in your competitions this upcoming year!


The ESL Award - Usama Talsam (Nov. 2013)


Usama came to Erindale in September 2012 from Saudi Arabia where he had completed grade 9. Usama worked very hard in his ESLD and ESLE classes. Having a very strong work ethic and excellent communication skills, he achieved success in his first year in Canada and went on to study grade 10 Academic English. Usama has successfully tackled the many challenges of  being a newcomer to Erindale and Canada. He is an excellent role model for fellow students, always has a smile on his face and a great attitude. He demonstrates how success can be achieved through hard work, dedication and perseverance. We are fortunate to have Usama in our school.  Congratulations, Usama, on winning this award!


Avogadro Grade 11 Chemistry Contest - Eric Gu (Nov. 2013)


Last May, Eric participated in the University of Waterloo, Avagadro Chemistry Contest.  This exam offers demanding questions on the main topics covered in high school chemistry and also requires many mathematical skills that are closely connected to the study of chemistry.  There are also chemistry topics that are not normally covered in high school.  The Avogadro Exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, some easy, some tough, under the general headings: structure of matter, bonding, reactions, solutions, and gases, and a general knowledge of current affairs.  Eric scored in the 99th percentile on the Grade 11 Avagadro Chemistry test.  Congratulations Eric on this outstanding achievement.


Conner Watt Advances to ROPSSAA Golf Championships (Sep. 2013)

Conner Watt was the low qualifier with a -1 score of 71 at Glen Eagle Golf Course in Bolton, qualifying against 58 other competitors. He will be advancing to the ROPSSAA Golf Championship at Braeben Golf Course on Monday, October 7th. The next closest finisher scored a 77. Great job Conner!
Connor travelled to Windsor and competed at the provincial golf championships. After 2 days of solid play, Connor finished tied for 7th place overall. An impressive feat considering he was competing against over 120 golfers from across the province. Congratulations to Connor and thank you to Mr. Ford (coach) and Mr. Madruga.

Congratulations to Mohammad Khaled (Sep. 2013)


Mohammad entered the Economic Club of Canada's yearly challenge and placed in the top 5 nationwide. Mohammad also impressed Porter Airlines executives with his Porter Airlines Dream Destination pitch and won a trip for two to his dream destination. Mohammad will be joining Ontario Finance Minister -Charles Sousa at the TSX Broadcast Centre to receive his awards and will help open the market on Monday September 16th. Congratulations Mohammad!
