Pupil Accommodation Review update
Click 'full story' to view an update on the construction and renovation work to take place at Glenforest Secondary School, as a result of last year's Pupil Accommodation Review.
Dear Glenforest and Glenforest South families:As you know, last year, the Peel District School Board approved recommendations from the Pupil Accommodation Review to close Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School and move its Vocational and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) programs to Glenforest Secondary School. To accommodate these new students and to provide enhancements to the building, the Peel board proposed an addition, renovations and outside improvements to the Glenforest school building.
Construction was scheduled to begin over the summer; however, due to additional delays beyond the Peel board's control, we now anticipate that this work will begin in late Fall 2018 or early Winter 2019. We still expect that the construction work will be completed before the start of the 2019-20 school year.
As communicated previously, students in the Vocational and ASD programs will attend Glenforest South (formerly the Gordon Gradyon school building) until the construction project at the Glenforest building is complete. During this time, the board will work closely with the construction company to ensure minimal disruption to student day-to-day activities at Glenforest.
We are committed to keeping you informed and updated throughout this process. A public meeting will be held during the 2018-19 school year to provide more details about the school plans. We will also share updates on Glenforest's school website at http://schools.peelschools.org/sec/glenforest and at our regular School Council meetings.
Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your principal or Joginder Dhanjal, Senior Project Manager, at 905-890-1010 ext. 2102.
