English Language Learners

 The ELL department is committed to student success by using a variety of teaching methods encompassing all English skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). The lessons are interactive and focus on both individual and group learning. In the lower-level courses, an effort is made for students to be successfully integrated into Canadian culture. Beginning with the lower levels and more so in the higher levels, students do a novel study, and create a portfolio. In the higher levels they do the same with an added focus on enhancing their literacy skills for the OSSLT.. The main goal is for students to be well-prepared to be integrated into the mainstream English program.

Courses

ESL courses are not based on age or grade level but instead each student is placed according to their own needs and abilities.
