On behalf of Heart Lake Secondary School Council:
WELCOME TO HEART LAKE!
The HLSS Council is a group of parents and guardians committed to their teens’ continued development into caring and contributing adults of not just their community, but of their province, country, and beyond. We accomplish this by actively supporting HLSS’ Character Counts program, which is integrated throughout the delivery of the Ontario curriculum in all grades as well as within school activities.
Meetings center on educational issues and concerns as well as planning some fundraising. Our main focus are Parents Reaching Out initiatives. We meet with and make recommendations to school administrators, teachers, members of the student council, and community members, thus, keeping informed about initiatives, concerns, and other relevant matters concerning our teens’ school life.
The School Council Meeting dates for the 2013 - 2014 school year Are as follows:

- Wednesday October 16, 2013 (Student and Parent Workshop: How to Choose a Career Path)
- Wednesday November 20, 2013
- Wednesday January 15, 2014
- Wednesday February 19, 2014
- Wednesday April 16, 2014
- Wednesday May 21, 2014
All Council meetings commence at 7:00 pm
and conclude at 8:30 pm in the school’s library.
Please consider joining us at our next council meeting. In September, those parents who would like to hold positions on the council for the 2012-13 school year may complete and submit the attached form. However, all parents are welcome to come and participate in any or all of the meetings. This is a great way to keep informed about your student’s school.

Please join us for the first meeting of the Heart Lake School Council, which will be held on Wednesday September 26, from 7-9 p.m. in the library, and includes elections for Executive positions. Any parent wishing to be a member of this year’s Council should fill out a nomination form below, and forward it to the school by Friday September 21.
