Outdoor Classroom and Garden

The Eco School Committee and the Heart Lake Environmental Action Leaders (HEAL) Team have worked hard all year to expand and improve our outdoor classroom and garden. The purpose of the space is to increase students' ecological literacy and appreciation for the local community environment, as well as improve the biodiversity of our neighbouring Etobicoke Creek. Overlooking the picturesque Valleybrook corridor, the classroom consists of 5 naturally hewn log benches and several native species of tree and shrub.  Members of the local community are also encouraged and welcome to use the space as a quiet place to reflect and enjoy the view.  We ask only that all users keep the area clean.

This classroom is one of many exciting things Heart Lake students have done to establish ourselves as environmental leaders in the community.  Heart Lake is a GOLD certified ecoschool due to its continual efforts to reduce waste, conserve energy, and raise environmental awareness.

Donations are being accepted in the main office to help expand and improve upon the classroom.  Any additional questions are to be directed to Mr. Finlay (905) 840-2328 Ex 262.
