WELCOME TO HEART LAKE!
"Hello and Welcome" to all current and future students’ parents, guardians, family, and supportive friends.
The HLSS Council is a group of parents and guardians committed to their teens’ continued development into caring and contributing adults of not just their community, but of their province, country, and beyond. We accomplish this by actively supporting HLSS’ Character Counts program, which is integrated throughout the delivery of the Ontario curriculum in all grades as well as within school activities.
Meetings center on educational issues and concerns as well as planning some fundraising. Our main focus are Parents Reaching Out initiatives. We meet with and make recommendations to school administrators, teachers, members of the student council, and community members, thus, keeping informed about initiatives, concerns, and other relevant matters concerning our teens’ school life.
Heart Lake Secondary School Council endeavors to meet the following objectives to help support and enhance the learning environment for all students:
Enhancing the lines of communication among parents and/or guardians, administrators, teachers, and students in the school community.
Providing a forum for input into educational matters for all parents and guardians of HLSS students.
Providing a means for expressing parental and guardian ideas, recommendations and concerns to HLSS administrators or to the Peel Board itself.
Encouraging and promoting school-based services and community partnerships related to social, health, safety, recreation, and nutritional programs.
Assisting in the building of an inclusive community working together in the interest of Public Education.
In short, the Heart Lake Secondary School Council is here to:
Help you voice your concerns about your teenagers’ education;
Help you find solutions to those concerns;
Help inform you about school initiatives designed to improve your teenagers’ academic achievement and engagement in school life.
Our council meetings are normally on the third Wednesday of each month during the school year with the exception of December, March, and June.
