The test consists of two booklets, each containing multiple-choice and open-response questions. The test is administered on one day in two 75-minute blocks, beginning at 8:30a.m. All of the questions are based directly on the expectations set out in The Ontario Curriculum, which is what teachers teach in the classroom every day. Students can prepare as they would for any other secondary school test. To learn more about the OSSLT and access sample test materials to help your son/daughter prepare, please visit the EQAO page at:
It is important that all students writing the OSSLT get a good night's rest the night before, eat a healthy breakfast the morning of, and arrive to school no later than 8:15am. Students are permitted to bring in pens, pencils, and erasers for the test.
All cellular / personal electronic devices are to be kept at home as they cannot be used during the assessment.
School buses will run on a regular pick-up and drop-off schedule. Students can also make alternative arrangements to go home when the test is over at 11:30a.m.
Please note that April 10th will be a Special Schedule Day. There will be no regular classes for students who are not writing the tests. Only those students participating in the test will be permitted in the building.
