Student Fees for 2019-2020

At Lorne Park Secondary School, we provide program enhancements that have a fee associated with them. The program enhancements offer students opportunities outside of their academic classes. Often these experiences become the most memorable part of a student's school career. The student activity fee for the 2019-20 school year is $30.00 . This amount will be used for:

  • $15.00 Student Activity Council activities such as intramurals, student club subsidies, special events for student clubs and subsidies for the extra-curricular music program.

  • $ 15.00 Athletic  activities such as prizes for intramurals, subsidies for extra-curricular tournaments, transportation costs, and referee fees.

We also offer students the opportunity to purchase a school yearbook for $35.00.

Students who choose to join athletic teams during the school year will be charged a sport-specific fee to support specific team costs.

Parents are also invited to consider making a contribution to the Lorne Park School Council fund raising.  School Council is an elected group of parents who use funds to support student learning and the learning environment at Lorne Park.  Funds are used to support the annual graduation ceremony, to bring in guest speakers for student workshops and to purchase equipment that supports student learning. Any amount of contribution is greatly appreciated.  Contributions of $25.00 or more will be eligible for Charitable Donation tax receipts.

($30) Student Activity Fee

($35) Yearbook

($30) School Council Contribution

(95) Total

Families will have access to the School Cash Online items beginning August 26, 2019 to pay for student fees.

Lockers

Lockers will be assigned by your homeroom teacher.  Due to the limited number of available lockers, students may need to share with another student.  Please bring your Dudley combination lock, as your locker will be assigned on the first day of school.  Locks are also available for purchase through School Cash Online for $5.00.

Promoting Wellbeing in Your Children This Summer: The Importance of Structure

Summer vacation is almost here! Children can barely wait to put away their backpacks and spend their days free. Although this might be true for many, children and parents rely on structure to help guide the day, even in the summer. Structure holds kids and allows them to feel safe, knowing what to expect throughout the day and the week. Although it is crucial for children to have unstructured, free time each day, it is important for there to be some routine and structure (however you define it) to help children manage their emotions. Parents and children should sit down and discuss the summer plans, whether it is camp every day or multiple weeks off in a row, kids need to know what to expect.
