Adolescent/Teen Community Resources
 
There are a number of community services available to help support students and their families in times of need outside the classroom. Below are a number of links to opportunities for you to explore and will enrich your life experiences.
 
 

Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only toll-free, national, bilingual, phone and web counselling, referral and information service for children and youth.  Immediate anonymous and confidential support is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Kids Help Phone is staffed by trained professional counsellors with a wide variety of backgrounds including social work, psychology, sociology, and child and youth services.

Peel Children's Centre

Peel Children's Centre offers many excellent treatment services for children, teenagers, and families who are having serious issues with relationships, feelings, or behaviour.
Since 1984, Nexus Youth Services (which is now accessed through Peel Children's Centre) has offered counselling services to teenagers and young adults , ages 12 to 24, who
live in the Region of Peel in Ontario.


Nexus Youth Services — Community Counselling Program offers individual and group counselling for adolescents and young adults. They help the youth and children build on their strengths and develop their coping skills so that they can make a smooth transition into adulthood.

 

Crisis Response Service

If your child is having a serious mental health problem and needs help right now, you or your child can call our Crisis Response Service. Our number is 416-410-8615. We will provide help any time of the day or night, any day of the year.

 
 

Square One Youth Centre

The Square One Youth Centre (also accessed through Peel Children's Centre) is a place where adolescents and young adults can come to learn to improve their social skills, to cope with the challenges of their daily lives, and to improve their job skills so that they can contribute to their communities.

 
 
 

Peel Health Line

Peel residents can call (905) 799-7700 to obtain current, accurate health information. It may be used by teachers, students, parents, or any other residents of Peel. The Peel Public Health Unit has awealth of health information on a wide range of topics for all ages.

 

Information about Adolescent (Teen) Health topics can be obtained at www.region.peel.on.ca/health/topics This website contains information teens can use to make healthy personal choices. Topics include Communication Skills; Coping with Stress; Healthy Body Image; Healthy sexuality; Tobacco Reduction, Violence Prevention and more.

 
 

Rapport Youth & Family Services

Rapport Youth & Family Services is a non-profit social service organization that provides counselling and related support services to youth in Peel Region. Rapport is staffed by professionally trained social workers, counsellors, and youth workers who provide a range of confidential services for young people between the ages of 12 and 20 who are experiencing personal, social or family problems.

 
 

India Rainbow

India Rainbow provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Peel immigrant community, enabling integration and supporting their settlement, social services, health, and education needs. Services provided are non-religious and non-political.
