Who can apply?
Grade 8 students, living North of Hwy 401, may apply. Those students who meet the criteria for acceptance through the random selection process to the Mayfield Regional Arts Program, who live in Brampton or Caledon, will be offered spots first. Students who meet the program criteria and who live outside of the Peel Region will be offered spots once local students have been accommodated. In some cases, all spots may be offered to students who live in Peel.
When is the application deadline?
Monday November 25, 2019 @ 3p.m.
How much is the non-refundable audition fee?
Can I mail or fax in the application form?
The application form is on-line ONLY. It cannot be printed and either faxed or mailed in.
When will auditions be held?
Thursday January 23rd 2020, Friday January 24th, 2020 and Monday January 27th 2020. Auditions will NOT be rescheduled, please schedule vacations etc..around these dates.
What if the school buses are cancelled or the school is closed?
IF PDSB schools are closed, auditions for that day will take place on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019.
IF Buses are cancelled in all of Brampton and Caledon or ONLY Caledon, auditions will still take place.
How will we know if the PDSB schools are closed?

When will we find out the results from the student's audition?
First-round offers will go out Friday January 31st, 2020, 3pm
Second-round offers will go out Thursday February 6th, 2020
When do we need to accept the offer?
For first-round offers, Wednesday February 5th, 2020 @ 3p.m.
For second-round offers, Tuesday February 11th, 2020 @ 3p.m.

What is the Mayfield Regional Arts Program (RAP) email address?
Can my son/daughter apply for more than one discipline?
No. Due to the tight timelines in the audition process and in order to see as many students as possible, students must choose one discipline. They will need to reflect seriously on this important decision as they will be focusing for four years in this discipline. It must therefore reflect their passion, interest and talent.
Is this still an academic school with a regular academic course load? Will my child still take math, for example?
Yes. All students take the Ministry required academic courses for graduation with an OSSD. The difference at Mayfield is that students take their Major area course both semesters each year so that they receive two credits a year for an 8 credit package upon graduation. They will be rewarded a RAP certificate upon completion of these 8 credits.
Can my child take option credits?
Yes. Options will open up after the first year. Many students in one area may sign up for a course in another. For example, a dance major may choose to take a music course at some point or a drama student may take art technology or fashion arts.
How will my child get to school if they're not in the Mayfield boundary?
There is a private busing company available (Next Stop Busing) for students at any grade level that you may opt for. Upon acceptance into the program, the information is then forthcoming. Most students however, take Brampton Public Transit to Mayfield.
My child is already in high school at present and wants to come to Mayfield for Regional Arts, can they still audition?
No. Students are only eligible to audition during their Grade 8 school year.
My child has an identified learning disability, is this a problem? No. We take a students IEP very seriously. The Special Education Department monitors identified students and communicates closely with teachers regarding the special needs of thos students.
What should I expect to spend on program upgrade charges in the month of September?
Plan for charges which include registration, course program costs, and field trips, Artist in the Classroom enrichments, and miscellaneous costs associated with different clubs and teams. Please note that all courses have different expectations depending on the needs of the program so exact amounts cannot be determined in advance.
What are the time commitments at school?
There are early rehearsals and team activities that occur before school. Classes end at 2:40 p.m., but then rehearsals and teams begin again, sometimes until 5:30 p.m. or later.
