Interested in Meadowvale's SHSM Construction Program?
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Construction program is offered at Meadowvale Secondary School. The program is offered with University or College/Apprenticeship destinations in grades 11 and 12. Over these two years, students will be certified and trained in CPR, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, Health and Safety, and fall protection, as well as three other elective certifications. They will also have opportunities for Reach Ahead experiences, such as working with sector partners and visiting colleges and universities that offer Construction related programs.
The bundle of courses that are required for the program would be of particular interest to students who are considering a career as a certified tradesperson, such as a plumber, contractor, carpenter or electrician. Co-op is an integral part of the Specialist High Skills Major Construction program.
For more detailed information on the program and the course requirements, please see the document below:
Interested students should print and fill out the application below, and return the completed and signed form to their Guidance Counsellor or the Head of Alternative programs. Students should be sure to choose the correct courses in MyBlueprint during course selection, such as four credit co-op during their Grade 11 year.
