Grade 8 Review Resources

EQAO

All academic and applied grade 9 math students will write EQAO either in January or June, during the semester in which they have been enrolled in mathematics.  The results from EQAO are applied toward a percentage of the final grade in math.  See EQAO for resources.

Extra Help

Peer Math Tutors are available for Grade 9 and 10 students Monday to Friday in room 135 during lunch.  See Ms. Yu for details about volunteering as a Math Tutor.

Mathematics Contests

At Meadowvale we offer Mathematics Contests through The University of Waterloo during both semesters as an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving ability.

  • Canadian Intermediate and Senior Semester Mathematics Contests for Grade 9 to 12 in November.
  • Pascal for grade 9, Cayley for grade 10, Fermat for grade 11 students in February
  • Euclid for grade 12 students in April

Please see Mrs. Ghanekar for more information regarding math contests.

Grade 9 Pathways

There are three levels of study for grade 9 mathematics, essentials, applied and academic.

The Grade 8 Review Resource.pdf is a resource that grade 8 students can complete and check Grade 9 Review Resource Solutions.pdf in order to ensure that they are placed in the grade 9 course that will allow them the greatest chance for success.

Please see the chart for mathematics for more details Math Pathways and Recommendations.pdf regarding the pathways from grade 9 to grade 12.
