Explore Learning Leadership Award
4 Mississauga Secondary School Math/Science teachers have received the explore learning leadership award. This is an award that Explore Learning presents annually to the schools that have the greatest overall use of Gizmos by students and teachers. In Ontario, there are over 2900 schools using Gizmos and Mississauga Secondary School is among the top few demonstrating leadership in this provincial initiative.
STAO Fire Safety Resource
A Mississauga Secondary School teacher developed the STAO Fire Safety Resource. The Fire Safety Resource, funded by the Ministry of Education, contributes to a safe, positive school environment and supports professional learning among teachers, in secondary schools across Ontario. The Resource consists of professional videos of six science experiments, that concretely link fire safety to curriculum expectations. The staff member worked closely with the STAO Fire Safety Team throughout the school year, from concept design, through storyboarding and a two-day film shoot, to final delivery of the pieces to STAO and the Ministry of Education. The Fire Safety Resource will be available for all teachers, on the STAO website, Fall 2012.
