Semester 1 GRIT:

GPP 3O - Leadership and Peer Support
HHD 3O - Dynamics of Human Relationships

 

ENG - An appropriate 3 or 4 level English (could also be Media Studies)

 

Through the use of a variety of media forms and with a focus on literacy and communication skill-building, students will explore themes related to the development of healthy relationships. Students will use research and inquiry skills to investigate topics such as developing and maintaining healthy relationships with friends, family, community members and partners. Students will examine the connections between their own self-concept and their interpersonal relationships through a variety of activities in and out of the classroom setting.

 

Students will also work toward an ability to act in leadership and peer support roles. They will design and implement a plan for contributing to the school community. Throughout the course, students will explore issues related to teamwork and conflict management. Through a variety of activities and practice students will develop their understanding of the value of diversity within groups and communities.

 

Semester 2 GRIT:

 

GWL 3O - Designing Your Future

HIP 4O - Personal Life Management

ENG - An appropriate 3 or 4 level English (could also be Media Studies)

 

Through the use of a variety of media forms and with a focus on literacy and communication skill-building, students will explore themes related to creating a life path for personal, academic and career success. This course utilizes experiences within and out of the classroom to explore topics related to all aspects of the responsibilities adults face in order to make wise and responsible personal and occupational choices.

 

Students will learn about factors that affect success and work towards developing a portfolio to support an action plan for future academic and workplace success. Using a variety of media and research and inquiry skills, students will explore their own interests and personal characteristics to connect their abilities to the realities of workplace and educational opportunities as they refine their job-search and employability skills.
