Reaching Out Services
The purpose of Reaching Out Services is to:
- create a climate for learning and working through equity, inclusion and respect
- maintain/re-establish communication with students who are disengaged from their home school
- works collaboratively with a school to reconnect students with a meaningful educational program pathway preferably at home school location
- provides social-emotional assessment and support to students and their families
- facilitates the self-development and skill-development of youth by identifying and connecting to appropriate resources and supporting youth participation in developmental activities
- provides a nurturing environment that encourages empowerment
- enables students to complete their chosen secondary program and future pathway
- provides academic and support services to at-risk youth in the Peel board
Who can attend Reaching Out Services?:
- students 16-17 years old who are absent 15 consecutive days
Home school responsibilities
- exhaust all possible in-school supports, program pathways and support services prior to referral to Reaching Out
- collaborate with the Reaching Out Team in the re-engagement process
