Guest Speaker Anthony Mclean Anti Bullying Assembly

Anthony Mclean Speaks to SHSS Students About Bullying Prevention

On Monday, November 26th, Anthony Mclean visited Sandalwood Heights to conclude our school's Anti-bullying and Prevention Week.  Anthony is a motivational speaker who has delivered hundreds of presentations across Canada.  He has appeared as a guest on Breakfast Television, Global's Toronto Morning Show, CTV News, 680 News and CBC.  Anthony emphasized that every student plays a role in creating a safe and inclusive culture at school.  He gave students three actions they can take when they see someone being harassed or bullied: support the person being hurt, interrupt the harmful behaviour, or tell an adult.  Another area he focussed on in the presentation is the use of social media. Students need to know that what they do online today can affect them forever.  SnapChat stories, Instagram posts, and online comments are building a digital footprint that will help or hurt students as they enter University and the workplace.

Well in Peel: The Attitude of Gratitude

What is Gratitude?

Gratitude is all about focusing on what's good in your life. It is paying attention to the things that we can sometimes take for granted, especially when we are feeling stressed. There are many different words that can describe feelings of gratitude, including feeling thankful, lucky, or fortunate. An attitude of gratitude involves actively choosing to acknowledge and appreciate the things you are thankful for in life. By making a focused effort to reflect on the positive parts of your day, the stressors you face can begin to feel a little less overwhelming.
