  EXAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS

June2013

A.   STUDENT EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

1.     It is your responsibility to note and record the DATE, the TIME, and the PLACE of each exam.

2.    Every student has a schedule.  Schedules will also be posted in various locations around the school.

B.   EXAM MATERIALS

You must come prepared for exams with pencils, pens, ruler, eraser, calculator or any other materials indicated by your subject teacher.  Leave jackets and other belongings in your locker.  At the end of the exam collect belongings and leave immediately after as other exams are in progress.

C.    EQUIPMENT/ELECTRONIC DEVICES

No books, backpacks, cell phones or personal electronic devices will be allowed in the exam rooms.  Possessing these items in an exam room may be grounds for suspicion of improper exam conduct. A student caught using any of these devices will be deemed to be cheating. These items should be placed in your locker prior to writing an exam.

D.   STUDENT ABSENCE

Students who miss a summative evaluation or formal examination for illness must present a medical certificate and a letter from their parents to their alpha administrator within 3 days. The medical certificate must state that the student is “unable to write their final examination”. In the event of a death in the family, the alpha administrator must be contacted prior to, or on the day of the scheduled final evaluation. Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis under the Ministry of Education/Peel District School Board Policy which applies to Grade 9, 10, 11, & 12 students. This could mean rescheduling the evaluation until the next semester, completing the evaluation on the make-up day, making up the credit at summer school or accepting a zero for the final evaluation. The decision will depend on the duration of the illness/family emergency, the nature of the evaluation and the progress of student to date in the course.
