Update regarding status of negotiations with Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation

​Bargaining between the province and unions representing public servants, including teachers and school support staff, has been underway since the fall of 2014. Contracts have expired and are currently being bargained, as outlined in the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, 2014Central bargaining has been taking place between the province, unions and the Ontario Public School Boards' Association (OPSBA), which represents public school boards at the provincial table. The Peel District School Board has been actively negotiating on local issues with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF). On February 25, 2015, OSSTF-Peel (representing secondary teachers) filed for local conciliation with the Ministry of Labour for both secondary teachers and secondary occasional teachers.

Letter to families about updated health & physical education curriculum

​The Ministry of Education recently released its revised Health & Physical Education (HPE) curriculum, which all Ontario schools are required to implement beginning in September 2015. We want to ensure all Peel families have the information they need to help them understand the changes and learn how the curriculum will be taught in the classroom.

Behind the Smile

 **Note Change of Date**
On April 17, 2015 Turner Fenton is proud to present “Behind the Smile” our second Mental Health and Wellness Symposium.  Students will participate in this day-long event that will engage, inform and help break the stigma that surrounds mental health.   

Registration is now open. Permission forms need to be returned to North Office and students need to register their courses on Student Web.  The first 20 students who return their permission forms will receive a prize.

Parent Conference "Numeracy and Beyond" April 18 - Registration now open

​Our annual Parent Conference helps Peel board parents and caregivers discover new ideas to support children's learning and development. This year’s focus is Math. The deadline to register is March 27.​

Apply for a position on the board's French as a Second Language Advisory Committee

The Peel District School Board is currently seeking parent members for its first French as a Second Language Advisory committee. The committee will meet three to four times during the school year to provide input and feedback in an advisory capacity to the board regarding the development and implementation of French programs and initiatives.
