Guidance & Career Education (Counselling)
Counsellors are available to help you make important decisions about courses and future plans, and also to help you talk through whatever concerns you may have. Guidance services are available to all students. Simply come in and ask the Guidance secretary, either before school or at lunch, to make an appointment for you to see your Counsellor if you:
- want career information
- have concerns about your goals
- have questions about your courses
- want to know how to succeed in school
- have a personal concern
Counsellors have been assigned to students alphabetically according to the student's surname:
(A-F) M. Judges
(G-N) H. Koehler
(O-Z) K. Martin
The following resources have been created for students in different pathways at West Credit:
For Vocational 1 students, there are a number of post-secondary pathways available. These programs help students learn the skills needed to be independent in the community and find employment opportunities. We invite you to contact your student's Guidance Counsellor to discuss the opportunities available.
The Vocational 2 pathway provides students with a number of options on the completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. While college is available for some limited certificate programs, we encourage students to think about West Credit’s Year 5 program as well. This program focuses on providing students the chance to obtain the credits needed to apply to many college diploma programs. Please come see your Guidance Counsellor to discover the many options for you.
For students in our Applied Skilled Trades program, there are options such as apprenticeships and applying to college programs. College Program Newsletter
