Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.

Vision

At The Woodlands, we will unify our diverse community, promote innovation, and provide opportunities which engage all of us in the achievement of personal excellence and student success.

Collective Commitments

Staff Commitments

  • helping students achieve to the best of their abilitiy, developing self worth, and being responsible citizens
  • maintaining order in the school and holding everyone to the highest standard of respect and responsible behavior
  • communicating regularly and meaningfully with parents/guardians
  • establishing an array of extensive, clear, fair and devlopmentally appropriate interventions, supports, instruction
  • providing guidance as well as logical consequences with respect to inappropriate behavior

Student Commitments

  • demonstrating a commitment to learning through punctual and regular attendance, and being ready and prepared to learn
  • practising academic honesty and social integrity
  • complying to school rules and taking responsibility for their own actions
  • refraining from bringing anything to school, or using anything inappropriately, that may risk the safety of themselves or others
  • showing proper care and regard for school and community property

Parent Commitments

  • partnering with staff in the education of their children
  • reviewing the school Code of Conduct with their child and helping him / her to follow the school rules
  • helping their child understand that not acceptable to tease or bully others nor to fail to report such behavior
  • monitoring and ensuring their child's responsible use of the internet
  • ensuring their child's punctuality and regular attendance, and promptly reporting absences and lates to the school office
