Dear Hillside P.S. staff and families,
As you know, we have recently been made aware of 4 COVID-19 cases at our school. Peel Public Health has informed us that some of the individuals may have gotten the infection at school.
To further protect students and staff, Peel Public Health has declared an outbreak at our school while they continue to investigate. I know hearing the word outbreak is likely unsettling. An outbreak means that someone may have gotten the virus from someone else at school, rather than in the community. It also means that anyone from our school tested for COVID-19 will get their results back sooner. Please find attached letter from Peel Public Health
All people identified at risk have already been contacted and given direction to prevent spread. Individuals from 2 of our classrooms are continuing to self-isolate at home until the end of the directed self-isolation period.
Our building will remain open for students and staff. Our physical distancing and mask rules are designed to help prevent spread and lower risk, and our school undergoes a thorough cleaning and sanitizing daily as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol.
The identities of impacted individuals are protected under privacy legislation and cannot be shared. I know this may frustrate you, but you would want this privacy if it was someone in your family. Everyone deserves the same protection.
Now more than ever, we must take care of ourselves and each other. We can do this by following the advice of public health agencies and government officials. Please review their advice on how you can protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
Vice Principal (Acting)
