Dear Fairview Public School staff and families,
As you know, multiple cases of COVID-19 have recently been identified at our school. Peel Public Health has informed us that some of these individuals may have gotten the infection at school. Thankfully, risk for the rest of our school because of this situation remains low.
To further protect students and staff, Peel Public Health has declared an outbreak at our school. I know hearing the word outbreak is likely unsettling. An outbreak means that someone may have gotten the virus from someone else at school, rather than in the community. It also means that anyone from our school tested for COVID-19 will get their results back sooner.
View this letter from Peel Public Health for more information.
All people identified at risk have already been contacted and given direction to prevent spread. If you have not been contacted by Peel Public Health, this means you are not at an increased risk because of this situation and your school routine does not need to change. Only students and staff who are symptomatic or advised by Peel Public Health need to get tested.
Our building will remain open for students and staff. The school undergoes a thorough cleaning and sanitizing daily as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol, and our physical distancing and mask rules are designed to help prevent spread and lower risk. Peel Public Health will let us know if any other measures need to be taken to reduce the risk of spread.
The identities of impacted individuals are protected under privacy legislation and cannot be shared. I know this may frustrate you, but you would want this privacy if it was someone in your family. Everyone deserves the same protection.
Keeping you informed is part of our commitment to you. You can find information about that commitment on the Peel board web site. Please visit Peel Public Health's web site for information on how they are working with the Peel board to help keep staff and students safe at school.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
