Take Our Kids to Work Day
Take Our Kids to Work is a program of The Learning Partnership. It is a one-day job-shadowing experience for students in Grade 9. Take Our Kids to Work enables students to spend a day at work with parents, friends, relatives or volunteer host. Across Canada, Grade 9 students participate in career education activities in school. They
start to develop the skills required to succeed in the world of work
learn about the range of career options available after high school
begin to develop an understanding of the world of work
The first Take Our Kids to Work event took place in the Greater Toronto Area in 1994. Since then The Learning Partnership has expanded the program across the country to involve all provinces and territories. More than 1.3 million students and 75,000 workplaces have participated.
Students of this age group generally have limited access to workplaces. So a workplace visit on Take Our Kids to Work day can make what they are learning in the classroom come alive.
