Dear Central Peel Secondary School families,
We have been made aware that an individual who was at our school has tested positive for COVID-19.
However, Peel Public Health has informed us that this individual was not at school during their period
of communicability (the time period when an infected person can spread their infection to others). This
means there was no additional risk of exposure to any staff or students.
I know that news of COVID-19 can create feelings of anxiousness, so I wanted to make sure you had
this information as soon as possible to help ease concerns.
Our building is currently safe and remains open for students and staff. The school undergoes a
thorough cleaning and sanitizing daily as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol, and an additional
cleaning has taken place. Our physical distancing and mask rules are also designed to help prevent
spread and lower risk.
The identity of the individual is protected under privacy legislation and cannot be shared. I know this may
frustrate you, but you would want this privacy if it was someone in your family. Everyone deserves the same
Keeping you informed is part of our commitment to you. You can find information about that commitment on
the Peel board website. Please visit Peel Public Health’s website for information on how they are working with
the Peel board to help keep staff and students safe at school.
If you have any questions, please call me at (905) 451-0432.
