Application and Selection Process
Students living north of
Highway 401 now have the opportunity to begin or continue their studies in
String Instruments. These instruments include the violin, viola,
cello and double bass.
All students seeking
admission to the program must have an interview (Beginning Strings), or an
audition and interview (Experienced Strings and Advanced Strings). This
process ensures that students are placed at the appropriate level for their
current abilities. Although a student’s program choice will be taken into
consideration, the admissions committee will place each student in the
appropriate stream based on their audition and prior experience.
Students must apply on the
Peel Board RLCP application page where a $40.00 online non-refundable
application fee is due.
All students will receive
an email confirmation from the Central Peel Strings Department that will give
further instructions on how to virtually attend the interview component and
where to upload the performance videos (for Experienced and Advanced players
Selection will be based on
a student’s middle school marks and learning skills,
and the participation
component (interview for all students and uploaded performance videos for
Experienced and Advanced performers.)
