Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes


Minutes of November 25th, 2014 ~ Motion to Approve (D Lawrence) Seconded (K Zhao)

SAC Report

  • Dylan Matthews highlighted student activities:
  • December filled with assorted events including Kids Fest with Willowglen & Elmcrest public schools This activity pairs grade 1 & 11 students and proved to be a great learning experience!
  • Spirit Week with various daily events
  • General Council continues to develop and Dylan expressed a great potential for future Student Council representation
  • Semi-formal is set for March 5th and plans are coming along nicely
  • Great speakers In place for Girls Night In – Feb 17th & Guys Night In – Feb 26th
  • More focus is being put on interacting more with International Students
  • There was a suggestion to include a position on Student Council for a student from the International Program in an effort to inspire more involvement and improve communication


Principal's Report

  • Group of 15 students are producing a book featuring the different cultures and their story of coming to Canada; Book to be available for purchase at upcoming Multi-fest
  • Currently 113 students in the International Program with 27 more expected for 2nd Semester
  • Library has been renovated and upgraded
  • Staff are currently working on Professional Learning Collaboration
  • Department Heads to be reviewed in late February for 2015/16 school year; this is done every 5 years
  • Principal & Vice Principal characteristics profile were issued by email – to be followed up by Martine 


  • Current Balance                          $542.93
  • QSP Magazine Fundraiser          $370.00
  • Wish List items include new furniture for the Library and Table Skirts
  • Flyers will be included with report cards bring issues in April

Staff Appreciation Day

  • This event is scheduled for May 5th;
  • Letter to be issued to previous donors
  • More contributions and 2 more volunteers needed

Guidance Office Presentation

  • Sue McMillan presented 'My BluePrint' system which provides students an interactive process to track courses they've taken and requirements needed to graduate and/or enter post-secondary programs
  • Each student is set up with an account upon entry to Grade 9 and has access to their 'blueprint' throughout their high school years
  • Can be accessed here: http://www.myblueprint.ca – provides high school & post secondary planning; occupation, financial and resume assistance
  • Assemblies for each grade are planned to assist students with correct course selection
