Our Mission

Our mission describes our school's purpose. Our vision depicts our desired future. The principles needed to achieve our mission and vision are articulated in our values. Finally, the actions we need to demonstrate to make our mission, vision and values a reality are described in our collective commitments.

We have developed these statements in collaboration with our staff, students and families. They are part of our School Success Plan.


Erindale Secondary School fosters character development and academic excellence through the growth of empathetic, knowledgeable, and inquiring young people who strive toward mutual understanding, respect, and global mindedness.


We are a community of learners: parents, students and staff working together to enrich the lives of all our students. At our school we endeavour to create a learning community where wonder and imagination are honoured through intellectual pursuits. Learning as a community, we come together to deepen our understanding of our responsibility to ourselves, to others and to our world. We will be a community of learners, parents, students and staff that work together to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. We foster a love for life-long learning by providing opportunities for students to be active participants in and to take ownership for their learning. Students will work co-operatively and independently to develop the Board and school character attributes in order to enhance their committment to good citizenship.

Staff Commitments

  • Model the attributes of good character by respecting and responding to the individual needs and learning styles of students
  • on-going professional growth and development in order to foster integrity within the profession and among the school community
  • collaborate with our students, staff, and community to assist in fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity and success.
  • uphold the academic and co-curricular traditions that have been the cornerstone of Erindale's status within the community.
  • integrate the messages of character development including the Erindale motto " Character is who you are when no one is watching" into daily lessons

Student Commitments

  • respect the rights and responsibilities set out in the Code of Conduct.
  • completion of homework and assignments in the pursuit of academic success.
  • uphold the strong academic expectations of Erindale Secondary School.
  • demonstrate collective and individual integrity by continuing to foster a safe and inclusive environment for students, staff and community
  • participate in the over eighty clubs and teams (co-curricular activities) offered by Erindale staff to the students

Parent Commitments

  • foster an atmosphere of success and responsibility by attending school information meetings and parent-teacher conferences.
  • establish a home environment that supports and encourages student integrity and academic success through the completion and submission of all work
  • assist in fostering and maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment built on the foundations of character development
  • communicate questions and concerns to teachers in manner that fosters mutual respect and collaborative relationships.
